On 26th October 1998 there was a storm.Pedro was at home, when a landslide destroyed his home and he and his family (four children,wife and parents-in-law) were buried under the rocks. Pedro was only buried to his waist, he called his family but only an answer came from his wife's father, who was also a survivour. Pedro removed the earth and the stones that fell on him and stood up. Then he asked a neighbour to take him to hospital. The lifeguards helped to recover the bodies of his family. Ten years after the tragedy, Pedro works as a dispatcher for the buses going to the colony where he lives, named after the Red Cross in honor of the institution that was built in the area of Altos de Santa Rosa, about five miles south of the capital.
